People go for training in a range of leisure pursuits, whether they are sports like tennis, horse riding or golf, or hobbies like dancing, crocheting or collecting antiques. If gamers want to improve they can do it by spending time practicing, trying to get tips from people better than they are, searching the internet for videos, or having one to one coaching from PGTA.
Yes. For team games we have done our best to make sure that the prices are very sensible and you have the option of going online with an instructor, or going online with another team where each team has an instructor.

No. We are a professional training company offering training to gamers at all levels. Whether you want a better chance of beating your online friends, want to improve you lap times, or are competing and want to know what the experts know, PGTA has a lesson for you.
No. When you book a lesson with PGTA you are signing up to our terms and conditions which say you must be the right age for the game. If your instructor believes that you may be younger than the age rating for the game he/she will end the lesson, telling you the reason. If you want to finish the lesson you will need to provide proof of age to PGTA before we will arrange a time for you to continue.
PGTA trains every instructor, not in their game which they already know, but how to teach it. This is a time consuming process, so some of our games where we have already hired instructors are not on the site yet because the instructors are not ready. As soon as they are fully trained their games and bios will go on the site.
Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. There are web developers to pay, costs of maintaining and updating the site, fees to take payments, game server rental, bank charges, accountant's fees, and a host of other things to pay for. In addition to this all our instructors receive training before they are allowed to teach you.
Many sites take a percentage of the trainer's fees and the trainers can (and some do) charge over £100 per hour for training, but it is the student who is paying through the nose. We have fixed prices, starting at £9 for a half hour introductory lesson, and we offer structured lessons. With PGTA you know what you are getting and how much it will cost.
You might just as well ask why Andy Murray's coach isn't the number 1 tennis player in the world. All professional sports people have instructors. None of them are at number 1 in their sport and many of them have never been near the top in their game.
Our instructors are given the skills needed to make them great teachers of games that they know inside out.
Our instructors are only given the information necessary to connect with you for a lesson. For PC games you will be given the connection for the ventrilo server and the game server. The instructor will be given your first name only.
For XBox360 games your instructor will be given your gamertag so that they can send you a friend request and invite you to the game. The instructor will remove you from their friend list immediately after the lesson is over, unless you ask them to keep you on and they agree (they may need to remove you to make room for their next student).
When PGTA hires instructors for a new game, they are required to develop a range of structured lessons. Each lesson is tested, reworked, tested and reworked as often as is necessary until the instructors and PGTA are satisfied that it is ready to go on the site. Any games that are only showing one or two lessons have more on the way but they are not yet approved to be available through the site.
Anyone who has ever played a game knows that there is no substitute for practice, but you need to know what you should be practicing to get the most benefit from all those hours.
Having a lesson that teaches you things you didn't know or were not sure about will help you to get the most from your practice sessions.
In every game there are different ways/styles of play. Our instructors are gamers just like you and they know this. They will always do their best to teach you in line with your style of play because they are not trying to change how you like to play, only to help you to do better.
If you cancel more than 7 days prior to the lesson, PGTA will refund your fee apart from 5% charge which covers card processing and administration costs.
If you cancel between 48 hours before the lesson starts and 7 days you will receive a partial refund.
PGTA has a complaints procedure. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the lesson you must contact PGTA within 48 hours of the lesson taking place. We'll send you a complaints form to complete and will investigate. You'll be notified of the results of the investigation within 7 days of your complaint and if it's valid you will be offered a full or partial refund.
If your instructor comes online more than 10 minutes after the lesson was due to start he/she will offer you the option of having the lesson at another time. If you want to continue with the lesson your instructor will provide the full lesson even though it means that it finishes late.
If the instructor is very late and has another lesson so can't continue, you'll be offered either a refund or the option to have your lesson at another time.
Often your instructor will have another lesson immediately after yours, so they can't wait any longer than 10 minutes for you.
Your instructor will wait for 10 minutes after the lesson start time. If you haven't come online for your lesson by then you will need to contact PGTA to rearrange your lesson. If you are late three times, you will not be offered another lesson.
Different people learn at different speeds so this may happen. Your instructor will keep an eye on the time and if they believe that they won't be able to fit everything in they will ask you which of the remaining topics you want to spend time on and which you are willing to get an overview for. If you are not sure, the instructor will use the knowledge of your game that he/she's gained from watching you in the lesson and they will decide. You will be given an overview of some of the remaining topics and the instructor will teach the others as normal.
This can happen and the good thing is that it means you can spend more time with your instructor practicing what you've learned. During this practice the instructor will offer tips on your game. If you want to cover one topic from the next level of training (for example, if you are having an intermediate lesson and you want to spend time on one of the advanced lesson topics) your instructor will do this, but only for one topic.
It is up to you as the student to pick the right lesson for you. However if you decide to book a lesson because there are some topics you need to learn and others you know, your instructor will test your knowledge of the topics you know and provide training on the topics you don't know. If the lesson goes quickly and time is left over the instructor will use that time to help you to practice the new things you learned on the lesson.
Your instructor will ask you if you want to continue with the lag. If you decide it's not too bad the lesson will carry on. If you feel the lag is too bad, your instructor will end the lesson and let PGTA know what happened and how much time is left for the lesson. PGTA will contact you to arrange a date/time when the lesson can be continued. It is up to you to ensure that nobody at your location is using the internet during your lesson.
PGTA cannot be responsible for the operations of any ISP or game connection. If the connection is lost, your instructor will wait for a few minutes to give you time to restart your system/game and will try to get you back in. If he/she is unable to do so PGTA will contact you to arrange to finish the lesson at another time. If you repeatedly lose your connection your instructor will end the lesson and PGTA will contact you to rearrange.
If you can't hear your instructor or vice versa, your instructor will ask if you want to continue. If you don't want to go on with the lesson your instructor will end it and contact PGTA. We will arrange another time for you to finish your lesson.
You are welcome to apply to be assessed as an instructor, if we need instructors for your game. If you want to apply, you need to email us on info@pgta-training.com and we will send you information about what it takes to become an instructor. If you decide you would like to be assessed let us know and we'll book a date and time for your assessment and tell you what you need to have ready for it and what we are looking for from you. Once we have assessed all candidates for the game, contracts will be offered to the 2 or 3 who have scored highest in our assessment criteria.
All PGTA instructors get the same rates. That way all the students pay the same for the training. There are sites where gamers are charging over £100 per hour for training however these gamers receive no training in how to teach their game. With PGTA you gain valuable new skills that can be added to your CV.
We will consider anyone from age 16 upwards. However, because our instructors sign a contract with PGTA, if you are under 18 your parents would need to sign a mandate which allows you to sign the contract. We look for mature, responsible people who know their game well and who we believe can be good teachers.
PGTA operates an equal opportunities policy. Anyone can be assessed for a game that we are looking for instructors to teach as long as they are at least 16 years old.
